Open Access Think not what the Student can do for the Practice

The wheels of major change to architectural education is underway but little has filtered it's way through to mainstream architectural practice. Collective Architecture are an employee owned company who involve their staff in all aspects of their work and are far from the mainstream. With further insight as a design tutor at Strathclyde University and being better informed than most through my involvement with the RIAS, is it possible to see a better viewpoint. Do the new start up education proposals, which are threatening the status quo offer a real alternative or is everyone ignoring the student in pursuit of their own egotistical idea. Touching briefly on the recent success of new Scottish socio entrepreneurial architectural practices a quick series of thoughts to consider the Scottish position.
