Structure-Borne Sound Radiation from Train Carriages Using a Cylinder Model
This work focusses on the sound radiation from carriages excited by structure-borne sound sources. A generic train carriage model – a hollow, infinite, circular cylinder – is used to investigate the principal features. The calculation is based on the solution of the Donnel-Mushtari-Vlasov-equations
using a transform approach comprising the exterior cylindrical sound radiation. Results are presented in terms of vibro-acoustic transfer functions from a point force or moment excitation to the sound pressure outside the carriage. Typical sound pressure distribution patterns are identified
in three different frequency ranges and the features of multipoint excitation and phase influence are addressed.
