The biology of Storombus gigas Linnaeus is described on the basis of a study conducted at St. John, Virgin Islands, over a period of two and one-half years. The economic importance, systematic position, size, sexual differences, sex ratio, habitat, growth, movements, feeding
habits, reproduction, development, predators and commensals of this abundant gastropod are discussed.
