Free Content Pelagic Copepods from Barbados

Collections of planktonic copepods from the Barbados area were made from May of 1957 to March 1958. The following thirty-six species were identified: Neocalanus gracilis Dana, Undinula vulgaris Dana, Euealanus attenuatus Dana, Rhincalanus nasutus Giesbrecht, Paracalanus aculeatus Giesbrecht, Acrocalanus longicornis Giesbrecht, Calocalanus pavo Dana, Euchaeta marina (Prestandrea), Scolecithrix danae (Lubbock), Centropages furcatus (Dana), Temora stylifera (Dana), Candacia pachydactyla (Dana), Calanopia americana F. Dahl, Labidocera nerii (Krøyer), L. acutifrons (Dana), Acartia negligens Dana, Euchirella amoena Giesbrecht, Hemicalanus ornatus Giesbrecht, Leuckartia flavicornis Giesbrecht, Pontellina plumata (Dana), Pleuromamma abdominalis (Lubbock), Oithona plumifera Baird, Oncaea venusta Philippi, Pachysoma punctatum Claus, Sappharina angusta Dana, S. nigromaculata Claus, S. ovatolanceolata Dana, Copilia mirabilis Dana, Corycaeus speciosus Dana, C. obtusus Dana, C. elongatus Claus, Corycella carinatus Giesbrecht, Microsetella rosea (Dana), Macrosetella gracilis (Dana), Miracia efferata Dana and Monstrilla grandis Giesbrecht. The largest catches of most species were taken during the winter months.
