As a simulation method, nowadays similar simulation is widely used in research. In this article, similar simulation method is used to find out top coal's failure law. From the experiment and analysis, it can be concluded that with thicker thickness, top coal is more difficult to fraction and that deferent layer of top coal has its own stress distribution and fraction and that top coal above support can be divided into three layers: roof action layer and short beam structure layer and support's action layer.
