Close Encounters with the Nurse Shark, Ginglymostoma Cirratum
During the late 1940s, the writer experimented with the behavior of the nurse shark, Ginglymostoma cirrawm (Bonnaterre, 1788), This was done around the inshore reef at Palm Beach, Florida. Large nurse sharks would simply swim away when bothered; younger individuals would bite
if not released promptly.
