Free Content Some Aspects of the Biology of Siganus Canaliculatus in the Southern Arabian Gulf

Samples of Siganus canaliculatus were collected from traps in Ras Al Khaimah. Biological studies revealed that the spawning season starts in March with a peak in April. Males were dominant during the spawning season. Fecundity of the ripe female reaches 1,000,000 eggs. Vertebral circuli are the most reliable method of ageing. Von Bertalanffy growth curves suggest larger females. The length-weight relationship indicates that the female is heavier than the male in relation to length.
