On the Status of Lingula Tumidula Reeve, L. Adamsi Dall, and L. Shantungensis Hatai (Brachiopoda, Inarticulata)
Following examination of new material, it is proposed that Lingula shantungensis Hatai 1937 be placed in synonymy with L. adamsi Dall 1873. The species occurs throughout the western Pacific from the China Sea to Australia, and in the eastern Indian Ocean. L. tumidula
Reeve 1841 occurs in eastern Australia and the Philippines, but is still known from only a few specimens. It is more closely related to other species of Lingula, typified by L. anatina Lamarck 1801, than is L. adamsi.
