A New Species of Lophiid Angler Fish from the Western North Atlantic
A new species of the lophiid genus Lophiodes is described from 76 specimens from the western North Atlantic. Evidence is presented indicating close phylogenetic relationship of the new species to Lophiodes caulinaris of the eastern Pacific and Lophiodes kempi of
the eastern Atlantic. Diagnostic features of the three species are presented.
