Synalpheus agelas, New Species of Snapping Shrimp From the Gulf of Mexico and Bahama Islands (Decapoda:Caridea:Alpheidae)
A new species of snapping shrimp from the Gulf of Mexico and Bahama Islands, Synalpheus agelas, is described, illustrated, and compared to other species of the genus. Notes on its association with the orange demosponge, Agelas dispar, and other invertebrate associates
are given. A key to the species of Synalpheus with the carpus of the second pereiopod composed of four articles is presented.
