Free Content Some Digenetic Trematodes of Marine Fishes of the Bahama Islands

During late February and early March, 1952, 25 fish of 17 species were collected from the areas of Nassau and Eleuthera, Bahamas, and examined for digenetic trematodes. Fifteen of the species, including 21 individuals, harbored digenetic trematodes. Twenty-three species of trematodes were identified, 16 new host records were established, and a new record for the Atlantic Ocean of a species described from the Pacific Coast of California was cited.

A close relationship between the trematode faunas of the Dry Tortugas, Florida, and the Bahama Islands was found; a much closer relationship than occurs between the faunas of the Dry Tortugas and Bermuda or the faunas of the Bahama Islands and Bermuda.
