Driven Pile Design Method for Weak Rock

There is currently limited guidance regarding the design of driven piles in weak rock. Due to the absence of design codes and the conservative design methods currently employed, the capacity of the pile sections embedded into rock are often under predicted; the resistance to driving is also not well understood and usually over predicted to ensure appropriate installation equipment is mobilised.
