Necrotizing Fasciitis of the Abdominal Wall in a Premature Infant: A Case Study
We present a first report of necrotizing fasciitis of the abdominal wall in a 23-day-of-age, former 32-week-gestation premature infant. She was successfully treated with antibiotics without the need for initial debridement. After reviewing the etiology of necrotizing fasciitis, we discuss
the unique aspects of this case, including the noninvasive approach to initial treatment, which we consider significantly contributed to her survival.
