Toy or Tool of the Trade? Part I

Gizmos and gadgets abound in NICU—everything from PDAs to point of care testing to complex monitors that tell us things we didn't even know we needed to know. In this issue we are debuting a new column, Technology in the NICU, that will help you sort through the technological jungle we call NICU. Designed to introduce you to a variety of computerized devices found both at the bedside and in our back pockets, Technology in the NICU will bring you up to speed with the jargon, the benefits, and the drawbacks of many of the new devices now available to enhance our workplace.
