This article describes the process of developing and evaluating a videotape designed to promote self-efficacy for contraceptive use among young Latinas. To create the videotape, four young women aged 18 to 25 were invited to participate in in-depth, videotaped interviews on their experiences with contraception and teenage motherhood. The resulting videotape was entitled "Pregnancy: You Decide When!" The videotape was viewed and evaluated in two focus groups sessions with Latinas between the ages of 18 and 25. Participants also answered a demographic questionnaire and a questionnaire on the content and quality of the videotape. Participants responded positively to the use of Latinas in the videotape and to the use of culturally relevant messages. Women felt the videotape accurately reflected their own experience as young Latinas. The findings are discussed in relation to other methods of contraceptive counseling.
