Objectives: This study explored factors influencing participation in physical activity through social network analysis of male adolescents based on data from 2023 National Sports Survey. Methods: Participants were 366 male adolescents aged 10-19 who regularly engage in physical activity at least once a month for at least 30 minutes per session. The analysis of factors influencing physical activity utilized 4 items from the 2023 National Sports Survey. The network characteristics and centrality analysis of social network analysis were conducted. Results: Maintaining health and improving physical fitness were the most important reasons for participating in physical activity, while personal enjoyment showed the highest betweenness centrality, serving as a key bridge connecting other reasons. Internet was the most important information acquisition channel. Friends were the most influential factor influencing participation. Increased available time for physical activities was the most important prerequisite for increased participation. Conclusions: To increase participation in physical activity among male adolescents, it is necessary to expand the provision of information online, develop community-based physical activity programs, and create time conditions through institutional support from schools and local communities. Therefore, policy and practical measures are needed to stimulate and increase participation in physical activity among male adolescents.
