Purpose: Health behavior is important for patients as it affects their overall lifestyle. This research examined the effect of health information, health literacy, and mental health on health behavior. Mediation of health empowerment was also examined in this study. Method: The present research adopted a quantitative research methodology. A Likert scale questionnaire was designed for data collection from patients. This study used face-to-face and online methods to collect the data from patients. A total of 221 usable responses were received and used for analysis. AMOS was used as software for the analysis of collected data. Findings: Findings demonstrate that health literacy, health information, and mental health have a positive effect on health empowerment. Moreover, health empowerment has a positive impact on health behavior. The findings also statistically support the mediating role of health empowerment. Originality: This study is among the very limited studies that have studied the mediation of health empowerment. Moreover, the proposed model has been studied in the past from the perspective of healthcare workers. Studying these from the lens of patients also fills the gap of very limited studies discussing this context.
