Conceptual exploration of electric phenomena

An attempt is made to develop a conceptual picture of electric phenomena that should make sense to people with a desire to understand. It starts with a familiar mechanical system of a bow and string for which the location of potential energy can be easily recognized when it is drawn. Charged matter is viewed analogous to the drawn bow, obtained by the application of electric energy on a neutral matter. According to the electric field theory, the location of electric potential energy is to be the space where the related electric field is active. Analogous to the mechanical example of the bow and string, space is then reasoned to be elastic. Noting the highly similar behavior between space and dielectric matter such as glass in propagating light, space is described to rely on its polarization to carry light. Space polarization is to furnish elasticity to space, and used to conceptually explain the electric and magnetic fields.
