Gravity, electromagnetism, lepton masses, magnetic moment anomalies, neutrino masses, and their oscillations
This article presents a continuation of my earlier publication [T. Casey, Phys. Essays 29, 237 (2016)] where a relationship between the fine structure constant, α
, and the gravitational constant, G , gave the values,
α = 0 . 0072973525664 ( 17 )
and G = 6 . 67399113 (
24 ) × 10 - 11
m 3 kg
- 1 s - 2
. Continuing from this point, the electron's gravitational coupling constant permits the calculation of the electron's anomalous magnetic moment as a
e = 0 . 00115965218091 ( 27
) and in conjunction the muon anomalous magnetic moment, a
μ = 0 . 00116592089 ( 63
) , the tau anomalous magnetic moment is found to be a
τ = 0 . 0011772119 ( 19
) . Using the recommended electron mass of, m
e = 0 . 5109989461 ( 31
) MeV in conjunction with the three lepton's anomalous magnetic moments, improved values for the muon and tau masses, respectively, are m μ = 105 .
65837450 ( 66 ) MeV and m τ = 1776 .
822218 ( 11 ) MeV , where the muon and tau mass ratios to
the electron are m μ /
m e = 206 . 768282609
( 37 )
m τ / m e
= 3477 . 15436855 ( 89 )
and the tau‐muon mass ratio, m τ
/ m μ = 16 .
816671904964 ( 23 ) , where the three neutrino masses and their sum are ν e = 0 .
073497027 ( 4 ) eV , ν μ = 0
. 0821493 ( 83 ) eV , ν τ = 0
. 132358 ( 25 ) eV , ∑ m v =
0 . 288004 ( 34 ) eV
and their oscillations are ( ν
μ - ν e )
2 = 7 . 4862 ( 143
) × 10 - 5
eV 2 and
( ν τ -
ν μ ) 2 =
2 . 5209 ( 17 ) ×
10 - 3 eV 2
. All results obtained by the method used here are in agreement with both experiment and theory.
