A potential for complete Rankine cycle exhaust heat regeneration
A potential for complete Rankine cycle exhaust heat regeneration is presented. The closed condensing cycle's working fluid consists of a low boiling point solvent and a solid solute. Their solution reaction yields a positive excess enthalpy in the solvent's subcritical liquid range
near the cycle's T2 and exhibits retrograde solubility in the solvent's supercritical fluid range near the cycle's T1. The effect accomplishes an internal regeneration of a portion of the cycle's exhaust heat. An evaporative refrigeration cycle with staged compression and condensation is used
to regenerate the remaining exhaust heat to the Rankine fluid.
