Sollte die Lagerung radioaktiver Abfälle in tiefen geologischen Formationen rückholbar gestaltet werden? Im Artikel werden Optionen zur Gestaltung einer Einlagerung beschrieben, Argumente für und gegen eine Rückholbarkeit wiedergegeben und Zielkonflikte dargelegt. Eine Entscheidung zur Rückholbarkeit kann aus technischen Gründen nicht beliebig verzögert werden. Schwierigkeiten auf dem Weg zu einer solchen Entscheidung sind jedoch abzusehen ‐ umso wichtiger ist eine frühzeitige prozedurale Ausgestaltung des hierfür notwendigen Diskurses.
