Gegenstand der Umweltethik ist die natürliche Umwelt. Darauf haben sich prominente Vertreter(innen) des Fachs geeinigt. Nur kann diese enge Sicht bestenfalls mit der Genese des Fachs erklärt werden, nicht aber mit systematischen oder methodischen Anforderungen der Disziplin. Ein erweitertes Verständnis sieht wie folgt aus: Umweltethik als Disziplin, in der die gesamte ,,Um-Welt“ des Menschen, die natürliche und die gebaute, diskutiert wird.

  • GAIA is a peer-reviewed inter- and transdisciplinary journal for scientists and other interested parties concerned with the causes and analyses of environmental and sustainability problems and their solutions.

    Environmental problems cannot be solved by one academic discipline. The complex natures of these problems require cooperation across disciplinary boundaries.     All contributions undergo a double-blind peer review.
