Open Access The Next Generation of Innovation

Developing the next generation of innovators will require universities to move away from traditional, rigid structures to enable more synergistic collaborations while redefining/reinventing the delivery and content of curriculum programs. This will include improved partnerships between industry and institutional technology transfer offices, the latter being the main artery that currently connects industry and universities. While innovation and education go hand in hand, today's generation of future leaders is deeply committed to social impact and embarking on new ventures that capture those values. This article will present a forward-looking perspective on some of the best practices to help future entrepreneurial leaders innovate while informing educational practices to best prepare students to navigate and mitigate the risks and barriers that have long prevented the participation of diverse and inclusive individuals.
