The five new species included in the original circumscription of Scolecopeltidium are re-examined, redescribed, and illustrated. Scolecopeltidium mirabile and S. hormosporum are retained in Scolecopeltidium, while S. liciniae is lectotypified and transferred to Scolecopeltis, and S. costi and S. multiseptatum are transferred to Micropeltis.
