L'album Essence Ordinaire (1998) du groupe toulousain Zebda met en évidence une société française « en panne ». De façon humoristique, ironique, voire joyeuse, les chansons traitent des problèmes vécus au quotidien par les Français de parents immigrés. Cet article montre comment la démarche musicale de Zebda trouve un reflet dans son engagement dans le milieu associatif et, plus récemment, dans le domaine politique.
