The Once and Future: Thoughts and Notes

Last November I was in Vienna for two conferences in honor of Heinz von Foerster, my teacher, mentor, and friend. Since then, I ?nd myself thinking about two interwoven concerns: .(1) How can we further develop and better use the tools associated with second-order cybernetics and constructivist thought? .(2) How can we further develop the networks (such as the professional societies) that keep these ideas alive and contribute so much to our own manner of living? My thoughts are tentative and exploratory, and I share them in that spirit. What I have are a number of concerns, observations, and ideas.
