Esencialidad y COVID19. Hacia una definición conceptual y operativa en el campo social
The article aims to problematize social issues that emerged during the period of Social, Preventive and Compulsory Isolation (ASPO), due to the Covid-19 pandemic, in Metropolitan Buenos Aires during March-June 2020. It focuses on how state institutions addressed this issue and its derivations, particularly where there is an urgent demand of the people towards the State. The institutional chapter of essentiality is explored from the testimony of professionals who performed as essential workers in this exceptional period of isolation. The article explores practices and visions of the actors, and then rehearses a definition that allows to expand the social component of the idea of essentiality.

En general Medio Ambiente y Urbanización tiene un enfoque latinoamericano mientras Environment and Urbanization cubre todas las regiones del mundo.
Medio Ambiente y Urbanización is an open access Journal. It was founded in 1983 to encourage researchers, NGO staff and other professionals to write about their work and to exchange ideas. An English language sister journal, Environment and Urbanization was set up in 1989. The two journals have similar editorial policies and some shared content – with Medio Ambiente y Urbanización focusing mainly on Latin America while Environment and Urbanization covers all regions of the world.
