Determination of Measurement Uncertainties in Building Acoustics by Interlaboratory Tests. Part 2: Sound Absorption Measured in Reverberation Rooms
The uncertainty of the sound absorption coefficient is investigated by a thorough analysis of interlaboratory test data. Assuming a linear relationship between the standard deviation of reproducibility and the sound absorption coefficient, an estimate for the uncertainty is derived which depends also on frequency. Additionally, a realistic estimate for the standard deviation of repeatability is given. The same basic model turns out to be applicable to the sound absorption coefficient in one-third octave bands and to the weighted sound absorption coefficient. Finally it is shown how these findings can be extended to the uncertainty of the equivalent absorption area.
