Estimation of Day-Evening-Night Sound Level of Road Traffic Noise in Urban Area

Road traffic noise, within an urban area, is under consideration. The proposed method enables approximation of the yearly average value of the day-night sound level, L_den , and its uncertainty, U_den . The method requires measurements of the one-hour average sound level, L _Aeq,1h, and concurrent measurements of the hourly traffic flow and traffic speed. The measurements have to be carried out under four types of meteorological conditions. Calculations of L_den and U_den are facilitated by the use of the Japanese model of noise generation.
