A Numerical Method for Acoustic Waves in Horns
A hybrid method for computing the impedance of an axisymmetric acoustic horn is presented. The slowly flaring part of the horn is analyzed with a transmission-line model, whereas the rapidly flaring mouth and the space surrounding the horn are modeled with a two-dimensional finite difference time-domain method. In this way, the effect of higher modes that are excited near the mouth of the horn is considered. The computed impedance spectrum shows good agreement with measured data.
