The Resonant Suspended Ceilings and their Effect on Hall Acoustics
Resonant suspended ceiling with cross-shaped slits between the suspended ceiling plates is considered in the paper. The radiation impedance of a cross-shaped slit and the impedance of the hole itself are theoretically deduced from the radiation pattern. The impedances of the added air masses outside and inside the hole, the loss impedance, and the resonator volume impedance are taken into account while computing the hole impedance. The main resonance, the overtones and resonator interaction are considered. Changes in the real hall reverberation time, general hall sound absorption, sound absorption coefficients, slit width, and distance to the rigid surface are computed.
