A transducer for producing ultrasonic radiation in gases is studied. The transducer consists of a circular plate in flexural vibration and a longitudinal electromechanical vibrator which is attached to the centre of the plate. The vibration mode of the transducer was. analyzed. The equivalent circuit of the transducer was presented and the frequency equation derived. The analysis shows that the equivalent circuit method is very useful in analyzing (he vibration mode and the resonant frequency of the transducer. Two such transducers were designed according to the frequency equation and their resonant frequencies and displacement distributions were measured. The measured resonant frequencies were in good agreement wilh the theoretical frequencies.
