Investigation of Amplitude and Phase of the Light Diffracted by an Ultrasonic Wave

The phenomenon of light diffraction by an ultrasonic wave is presented, viewing variations of the amplitude and the phase of the diffracted light signal as a function of the Raman-Nath parameter for different values of the Klein-Cook parameter. Theoretical results from the solution of the Raman-Nath equations solved by the nth order approximation method are compared to experimental ones obtained by means of optical interferometry.

Zusammenfassung

Die Arbeit behandelt die Lichtbeugung an einer Ultraschallwelle hinsichtlich der Amplituden- und Phasenänderungen des gebeugten Lichtsignals als Funktion des Raman-Nath-Parameters für verschiedene Werte des Klein-Cook-Parameters. Theoretische Ergebnisse durch Lösung der Raman-Nath-Gleichungen mit Hilfe einer Näherung n-ter Ordnung werden mit experimentellen Ergebnissen verglichen, die mit Hilfe der optischen Interferometrie erhalten wurden.

On étudie le phénomène de la diffraction de la lumière par une onde ultrasonore, en examinant les variations d'amplitude et de phase du signal lumineux diffracté en fonction du paramètre de Raman-Nath, pour différentes valeurs du paramètre de Klein-Cook. On compare les résultats théoriques obtenus en résolvant l'équation de Raman-Nath par une méthode approchée à des résultats expérimentaux obtenus par interférométrie optique.
