Effect of Feedback on Pitch Discrimination

Effects of psychophysical feedback on pitch discrimination in the 2-IFC and the adjustments procedures were investigated in 12 subjects. The difference limens obtained were always better with feedback than without it. This is contradictory to the earlier data in which improvement of scores from session to session was observed, and no effect of feedback on asymptotic performance.

Es werden die Auswirkungen einer psychophysikalischen Rückkopplung auf die Tonhöhenunterscheidung beim 2-IFC und bei Anpassungsprozeduren mit zwölf Versuchspersonen untersucht. Mit Rückkopplung waren die erhaltenen Unterschiedsschwellen stets besser als ohne sie. Dies ist in Widerspruch mit früheren Ergebnissen, bei welchen eine Verbesserung der abgegebenen Urteile von Sitzung zu Sitzung beobachtet wurden und wo keine Wirkung der Rückkopplung auf das asymptotische Ergebnis zutage trat.

L'effet du «feedback» (indication de la réponse correcte) sur la discrimination de hauteur, mesurée par choix forcé sur deux intervalles ou par ajustement, a été étudié sur douze sujets.
