The excitation mechanism for a struck string requires that, in addition to the purely excitational forces, there are also reactive forces which lead to the frequency shifting of the Fourier components. This is called “bow pressure dispersion”. This effect occurs for the low strings of all stringed instruments when high order modes are excited by playing with a string bow pressure. It is presumed that bow pressure dispersion is an important reason for the bad sound quality of the low string in low-pitched stringed instruments.


Det Anregungsmechanismus der gestrichenen Saite fordert, daß neben den Kraäften die der reinen Anregung dienen, auch Blindkräfte auftreten, die zu Frequenzverschiebungen der Fourierkomponenten gegeneinanderführebn, die “Bogendruckdispersion” genannt wird. Der Effekt tritt bei den tiefen Saiten aller Streichinstrumente auf, wenn sie in hohen Lagen bei starkem Bogendruck gespielt werden. Es wird vermutet, daß die Bogendruck dispersion ein wesentlicher Grund für die schlechte Ansprache der tiefen Saiten bei den tiefklingenden Instrumenten ist.


Le mécanisme d'excitation des cordes frottées exige que, en plus des forces qui servent à la stimulation pure, interviennent aussi des forces secondaires qui conduisent au décalage fréquentiel des harmoniques et que l'on appellera «dispersion de pression de l'archet». Cet effet intervient dans tous les instruments à cordes frottées sur les cordes graves lorsqu'elles sont stimulées par une forte pression d'archet et en position haute des doigts. L'hypothèse est avancée, que la dispersion de pression de l'archet est une cause principale du mauvais rayonnement des cordes basses dans les instruments à sonorité grave.
