Mechanical Impedance Measurements Around the Violoncello

Some technical aspects of mechanical impedance mea-surements (both magnitude and phase) on the violon-cello and its surroundings are discussed. Examples of measurements show differences of bridge feet im-pedances, the significance of firm coupling between impedance measuring head and object, the effect of cavity air resonances on the plate impedance, the in-fluence of a mute, the vibrational behaviour of bow sticks, the frequency dependence of the player's finger impedance and string damping by a finger tip.

Zusammenfassung

Für mechanische Impedanzmessungen (Betrag und Pha-se) am Violoncello und seiner Umgebung werden einige meßtechnische Aspekte diskutiert. Meßbeispiele zeigen u.a. die Unterschiede von Stegfufi-Impedanzen, die Be-deutung der Objektankopplung des Impedanz-Meßkop-fes, die Einwirkung von Luft-Hohlraumresonanzen auf den Impedanzverlauf der Decke, den Einfluß eines Dämpfers, das Schwingungsverhalten von Bogenstangen, den Frequenzgang einer Fingerimpedanz des Spielers und die Saitenbedampfung durch die Fingerkuppe.

On discute de certains aspects métrologiques concernant les mesures d'impédances mécaniques (en amplitude et en phase) portant sur le violoncelle et son entourage immé-diat. Des exemples pratiques illustrent les points litigieux: différences d'impédances au pied du chevalet; importance du degré de couplage entre l'objet étudié et la tête de mesure; effets dus à des résonances des cavités avoisinan-tes sur le profil d'impédance de la table; influence d'une sourdine; comportement vibratoire de l'archet; amortis-sement des vibrations d'une corde par le doigt du violon-celliste et variations en fréquence de l'impedance de ce doigt.
