Despite all efforts loudspeakers have not yet achieved the standard of quality to which one is accustomed in other components of the audio transmission chain. This is reflected in the impulse response of such a system which, in the communication theory sense, completely describes the loudspeaker. A digital preprocessing of the impressed signal enables the sought for ideal to be approached very closely indeed. The system-theoretical formulation used shows not only that the amplitude frequency response can be corrected, but that group delay errors due to different causes can also be corrected. Listening tests verify the effectiveness of this digital equalization procedure.

Zusammenfassung

Trotz aller Bemühungen haben Lautsprecher bis heute nicht den Qualitätsstandard erreicht, den man von anderen Komponenten der Audio-Übertragungskette gewohnt ist. Dies schlägt sich in der Impulsantwort eines solchen Systems nieder, die im nachrichtentechnischen Sinne den Lautsprecher vollständig beschreibt. Eine digitale Vorverarbeitung der abzustrahlenden Signale ermöglicht es, dem angestrebten Ideal sehr nahe zu kommen. Der systemtheoretische Ansatz führt dazu, daß nicht nur der Amplitudenfrequenzgang, sondern auch Gruppenlaufzeitfehler unterschiedlicher Ursachen korrigiert warden können. Hörtests belegen die Wirksamkeit der digitalen Entzerrung.

En dépit de maints efforts, les haut-parleurs n'ont pas atteint jusqu'à present le niveau de qualité qu'on est habitué à recontrer dans tous les autres composants d'une Chaîne de transmission électro-acoustique. Une telle insuffisance se reflète fidèlement dans la réponse impulsionnelle du système, laquelle décrit complétement le comportement du haut-parleur au sens de la théorie de l'information. Un traitement numérique préliminaire du signal avant qu'il ne soit rayonné par le haut-parleur est toutefois possible et permet de se rapprocher de l'idéal ambitionné. Une exploitation convenable de la théorie des systèmes conduit à corriger non seulement le comportement amplitude-fréquence mais également certaines anomalies de la dureé de propagation en groupe, quelles qu'en soient les origines. Des tests d'écoute ont confirmé l'efficacité de cette correction numérique.
