Influence of Acoustic Waves on Plasma Column Properties

Acoustic waves directed along a discharge plasma column are shown to cause its stratification. It is shown that with an increase in the acoustic wave intensity, the electron concentration decreases in the compressive layers and increases in the rarified layers. Stratification occurs when the ionization frequency is higher than the wave frequency.

Zusammenfassung

Es wird gezeigt, daß Schallwellen, die sich entlang der Plasmasäule in einer Gasentladung ausbreiten, eine Schichtung hervorrufen. Dabei ergibt sich, daß mit zunehmender Schallintensität die Elektronenkonzentration in den verdichteten Bereichen abnimmt und in den verdünnten Schichten zunimmt. Die Schichten bilden sich aus, wenn die Ionisationsfrequenz höher als die Schallfrequenz ist.

On démontre que la présence d'une onde acoustique se propageant le long d'une colonne de plasma produit sa stratification. Avec l'accroissement de l'intensité acoustique, la concentration des électrons du plasma diminue dans les couches comprimées et augmente dans les couches raréfiées. Cette stratification intervient lorsque la fréquence d'ionisation est plus grande que la fréquence de l'onde acoustique.
