One possible method to calculate the radiation (and scattering) from a body with given surface velocity consists in approximating the radiated sound field by the field of auxiliary radiators with known properties in such a way that good agreement is obtained. In this paper another method of surface velocity optimisation and the method of moments as suggested by Cremer are discussed. It is shown that Cremer's method can be derived from the wave equation by using Green's theorem. It also is shown, that by using several auxiliary radiators the methods can be applied to bodies of arbitrary shape.
