A direct Determination of the Normal Threshold of Hearing by Bone Conduction using an Impedance Head

The normal threshold of hearing by bone conduction was measured directly with the aid of an impedance head together with a shaker as bone vibrator. 106 otologically normal young Chinese were used as test subjects. The results agree fairly well with the data given in ISO Standard 7566 in the frequency range 250 Hz to 4000 Hz, in spite of the different measuring methods by which both data sets were derived. A two-year clinical check showed the same agreement. As a consequence of these results it was decided to accept ISO 7566 as the National Chinese Standard.

Zusammenfassung

Die Normalhörschwelle für Knochenleitung wurde auf direktem Wege gemessen, wobei ein Impedanzmeßkopf zusammen mit einem kleinen Schwingerreger als Knochenleitungshöhrer verwendet wurde. Als Testpersonen dienten 106 junge, normalhörende Chinesen. Die Ergebnisse stimmen trotz unterschiedlicher Meßmethoden im Frequenzbereich 250 Hz bis 4000 Hz recht gut mit den in der internationalen Norm ISO7566 gegebenen Werten überein. Eine anschlieBende Erprobung unserer Hörschwellenwerte in 2 Kliniken während eines Zeitraumes von 2 Jahren zeigte eine ähnlich gute Übereinstimmung. Es wurde daher beschlossen, die Norm ISO 7566 als Nationale Chinesische Norm zu übernehmen.

On a mesuré directement le seuil normal de perception auditive par conduction osseuse avec l'aide d'une tête d'impédance et en se servant d'un trembleur comme source des vibrations osseuses. Cent-six jeunes Chinois otologiquement sains ont servi de sujets. Les résultats sont en excellent accord avec les données fournies par la norme ISO 7566 pour la bande de 250 Hz à 4 kHz, en dépit de la différence des techniques de mesure. Un contrôle clinique sur un laps de deux ans a montré une concordance analogue. Au vu de ces résultats, il a été décidé d'accepter la norme ISO 7566 comme Norme Nationale Chinoise.
