Absorption Related Diffraction Corrections in the Near Field of an Ideal Piston Radiator

Bass's result for the diffraction correction in the expression for the space averaged pressure amplitude over the face of a circular disc, which is situated in the near field of a coaxial idealized circular piston radiator of the same radius, is extended to include the effects of non-zero absorption.

Evaluation of the resulting generalized diffraction expression yields results which are consistent with those obtained by numerical methods and confirm that, under most circumstances, the effect of absorption on the magnitude of the diffraction correction is likely to be small and less significant than other factors.

Zusammenfassung

Die Bass'schen Ergebnisse für die Beugungskorrektur in dem Ausdruck für die räumlich gemittelte Schalldruckamplitude über der Oberfläche einer kreisförmigen Scheibe, der sich im Nahfeld eines koaxialen, idealisierten kreisförmigen Kolbenstrahlers von gleichem Radius befindet, werden so erweitert, daß sie die Effekte nichtverschwindender Absorption einschließen.

Die Auswertung des resultierenden verallgemeinerten Beugungsausdrucks liefert Ergebnisse, die mit numerisch erhaltenen Resultaten übereinstimmen; sie bestätigen, daß in den meisten Fällen der Einfluß der Absorption auf die Größe der Beugungskorrektur wahrscheinlich ist und gegenüber anderen Faktoren nicht ins Gewicht fällt.

On part d'une correction apportée par Bass pour tenir compte de l'effet de diffraction dans le calcul de l'amplitude de la moyenne spatiale de la pression sur la face d'un disque circulaire situé dans le champ proche d'un piston circulaire idéalisé de même axe et de meme rayon que le disque et on étend cette correction au cas d'une absorption non nulle.

La formule de diffraction généralisée ainsi obtenue fournit des résultats qui concordent avec ceux des méthodes numériques. Il se confirme aussi que, dans la plupart des cas, l'effet de l'absorption est petit par rapport à la correction de diffraction pure et peut être considéré comme moins significatif que les autres facteurs en jeu.
