Theory of Plane Baffles of General Shape in which a Plane Diaphragm is mounted — Doublet Model Theory of Surface-source Baffles, Part I

The loudspeaker mounted in a finite plane baffle is assumed equal to a plane diaphragm. The baffle is regarded as constituted by baffles equal to itself but having a single pair of point sources at a position on the both sides of the diaphragm. The far-field, axial frequency response, lower cut-off frequency, the density of distribution of the path length on the baffle and other quantities of the former baffle are constituted by those of the latter ones.

Zusammenfassung

Es wird angenommen, daß der in einen endlich großen, ebenen Schallschirm eingesetzte Lautsprecher eine ebene Membran hat. Der Schallschirm wird aufgefaßt als zusammengesetzt aus gleichartigen Schallschirmen, die jeweils ein einzelnes Paar von Punktquellen auf beiden Seiten der Membran haben. Das Fernfeld, die axiale Freqüenzubertragung, die untere Grenzfrequenz, die Dichte der Verteilung von Weglängen auf den Schirm und andere Größen des ursprünglichen Schallschirms werden zusammengesetzt aus den entsprechenden Größen der Einzelschallschirme.

On assimile le haut-parleur montédans un baffle plan fini à un simple diaphragme plan. Le baffle lui-même est considérécomme composéd'une superposition de baffles identiques au premier mais munis chacun seulement d'une unique paire de sources ponctuelles placées de part et d'autre du diaphragme et formant ainsi un doublet ponctuel unique norma au diaphragme. On peut calculer ainsi le champ lointain, la ré ponse en fréquence sur l'axe, la fréquence de la coupure inférieure, la densitéde distribution des longueurs de parcours ainsi que bien d'autres quantités concernant le baffle général, tout cela à partir des grandeurs homologues relatives aux baffles à sources ponctuelles.
