Spectral Analysis of the Scattering of Acoustic Waves from a Fluid Cylinder, I: Denser Fluid Loading

As a first step towards a numerical solution of the inverse scattering problem for acoustic and elastic waves, we investigate in this paper the scattering of acoustic waves from a fluid cylindrical obstacle (air) in a denser fluid medium (water). Besides computing the scattering amplitudes, we obtain the SEM and Regge poles and the dispersion and attenuation curves for the helical surface waves.


Als erster Schritt zu einer numerischen Lösung des inversen Streuproblems für akustische und elastische Wellen wird in dieser Arbeit die Streuung von Schallwellen an einem fluiden zylindrischen Hindernis (Luft) in einem dichteren fluiden Medium (Wasser) untersucht. Außer der Berechnung der Streuamplituden werden die SEM und Regge-Pole sowie die Dispersions- und Dämpfungskurven für die spiralartigen Oberflächenwellen ermittelt.


Nous étudions la diffraction d'ondes acoustiques par un obstacle constitué d'un cylindre fait d'un fluide moins dense (l'air) plongé dans un fluide plus dense (eau). Ceci est la première étape de la recherche d'une solution numérique pour le problème inverse de la diffraction des ondes acoustiques ou élastiques. En plus des amplitudes de diffusion, on a calculé les pôles SEM et de Regge, ainsi que les courbes de dispersion et d'atténuation pour les ondes hélicoïdales de surface.
