Steady State Sound Field in an Enclosure with Diffusely and Specularly Reflecting Boundaries

The effect of a specularly reflecting boundary portion on the steady state sound field in an enclosure with otherwise diffusely reflecting boundaries was studied by the use of the integral equation governing the sound field and the mirror image method. In this study a two-dimensional rectangular enclosure was analyzed varying the distribution of the absorption coefficient, the source location and the location and length of the specularly reflecting boundary portion. The main results obtained are as follows. The change of the reflection characteristics of a boundary portion from the perfectly diffuse reflection following Lambert's cosine law to the perfectly specular reflection can cause changes of about + 20% ∼ − 11% in the weighted average absorption coefficient and about − 1.2 dB in the energy density.


Die Wirkung eines geometrisch reflektierenden Wandteils auf das stationäre Schallfeld in einem Raum mit sonst diffus reflektierenden Begrenzungen wurde durch Benutzung der für das Schallfeld gültigen Integralgleichung und der Spiegelungsmethode studiert. Hierzu wurde ein zweidimensionaler Raum analysiert unter Variation der Verteilung des Absorptionsgrads, des Quellenorts sowie der Lage und Länge des geometrisch reflektierenden Wandteils. Die wichtigsten Ergebnisse sind die folgenden: Die Änderung der Reflexionscharakteristik eines Wandteils von vollkommen diffuser Reflexion nach dem Lambertschen Kosinusgesetz bis zu völlig geometrischer Reflexion kann Änderungen des gewogenen mittleren Absorptionsgrads von etwa + 20% bis − 11% und der Energiedichte von etwa − 1,2 dB verursachen.


On étudie l'influence d'une portion de surface à réflexion spéculaire sur l'état permanent du champ acoustique dans une enceinte à parois diffusantes, en utilisant l'équation intégrale du champ et la méthode des images. Une enceinte rectangulaire bidimensionelle a été examinée en faisant varier la distribution du coefficient d'absorption, l'emplacement de la source, l'emplacement de la portion à réflexion spéculaire ainsi que sa longueur. On a pu constater que le changement des propriétés réflectrices d'une portion donnée de la paroi peut provoquer des variations de +20% à −11% du coefficient d'absorption pondéré moyen et d'environ − 1,2 dB de la densité d'énergie quand on passe de la diffusion selon la loi en cosinus de J. H. Lambert à la réflexion parfaitement spéculaire.
