Preferred Time Delay of a Single Reflection for Performers

The purpose of the present investigation is to obtain a concept for the stage enclosure design in a concert hall for the performers. Subjective preference judgements of music sound-fields with a simulated single reflection using different music motifs were performed by alto-recorder soloists.

Results show that the most preferred time delay can be determined from the autocorrelation function (ACF) of the music signals performed and the amplitude of the reflection.

Zusammenfassung

Ziel der vorliegenden Untersuchung war es, ein Konzept für den Entwurf der Bühneneinfassung in einem Konzertsaal zu gewinnen. Hierzu wurden subjektive Präferenztests von Schallfeldern mit einer simulierten Zeitreflexion unter Benutzung verschiedener Musikmotive durchgeführt.

Die Ergebnisse zeigen, daß die zumeist bevorzugte Zeitverzögerung aus der Autokorrelationsfunktion (ACF) des dargebotenen Musiksignals und aus der Amplitude der Reflexion bestimmt werden kann.

On se propose de préciser un concept devant servir à définir l'emplacement de l'orchestre dans une salle de concert. Des tests de préférence subjective ont été effectués par des solistes d'alto pour des champs acoustiques musicaux composés de différents motifs et compartant une réflexion unique obtenue par simulation.

Les valeurs préférentielles obtenues dans ces tests peuvent également se déduire de la fonction d'autocorrélation entre les signaux musicaux utilisés et l'amplitude de la réflexion qui leur a été appliquée.
