Delany and Bazley [1] and Mechel [2] have proposed formulae allowing the determination of the acoustical characteristics of a fibrous material by relating to the specific air flow resistance.

The evaluation of the normal incidence absorption coefficient of a homogeneous fibious material backed by a reflecting surface, using these formulae, shows that the absorption coefficient as a function of frequency forms one of a family of curves depending on two parameters: the total air flow resistance of the product which determines the shape of the curve and the specific air flow resistance of the material which determines the position of the curve on the frequency axis.


Delany et Bazley [1] puis Mechel [2] ont proposé des relations permettant, à partir de la résistance spécifique au passage de l'air d'un matériau fibreux, de déterminer les caractéristiques acoustiques de ce matériau.

En utilisant ces relations pour calculer le coefficient d'absorption en incidence normale d'un produit fibreux homogène adossé à une paroi rigide on montre que les courbes du coefficient d'absorption en fonction de la fréquence font partie d'une famille à deux paramètres: la résistance totale au passage de l'air du produit qui conditionne la forme de la courbe, et la résistance spécifique au passage de l'air du matériau qui conditionne le positionnement de cette courbe en fréquence.


Delany und Bazley [1] und danach Mechel [2] haben Beziehungen angegeben, welche die Bestimmung der akustischen Eigenschaften eines Fasermaterials aus seinem spezifischen Strömungswiderstand erlauben.

Diese Beziehungen weiden zur Berechnung des Absorptionsgrads eines homogenen Fasermaterials vor einer starren Wand bei senkrechtem Einfall benutzt. Damit wird gezeigt, daß die Kurven des Absorptionsgrads in Abhängigkeit von der Frequenz eine von zwei Parametern abhängige Schar bilden: dem gesamten Strömungswiderstand, der die Form der Kurve bestimmt, und dem spezifischen Strömungswiderstand des Materials, der die Lage dieser Kurve bezüglich der Frequenz bestimmt.
