Sound Attenuation in Large Factory Spaces

Sound propagation in large factories containing scatterers has been modelled using mathematical statistics. The ultimate purpose has been to develop a method for evaluating the effectiveness of applying absorbents to the ceiling or walls. In this paper we consider excitation of the factory by a continuous source. The theory has been checked against scale model measurements and good agreement was found.

Die Schallausbreitung in großen Fabriken, welche Streuelemente enthalten, wurde unter Verwendung statistischer Mathematik an einem Modell untersucht. Das Fernziel war, eine Methode zu entwickeln, mit deren Hilfe die Effektivität von Absorbern, welche auf die Decke oder die Wände aufgebracht worden sind, berechnet werden kann. In dieser Arbeit nehmen wir eine Anregung der Fabrik durch eine kontinuierliche Quelle an. Die Theorie wurde mit Messungen an einem maßstabgetreuen Modell verglichen und es wurde eine gute Übereinstimmung festgestellt.

On a modélisé la propagation du son dans de grands halls d'usines contenant divers objets diffusants, en utilisant les ressources de la statistique mathématique. L'objectif final était le développement d'une méthode permettant d'évaluer l'efficacité d'une application de matériaux absorbants sur les murs ou le plafond. Dans le présent travail on a supposé que l'excitation était produite par une source à régime continu. Un contrôle expérimental effectué sur un modèle à l'échelle s'est montré en bon accord avec ce modèle théorique.
