Pulsation Patterns and Auditory Tuning for Narrow Noise Bands

Pulsation patterns were determined for sine-wave and noise-band pulsators. They were found to be slightly different. It is shown that this difference is caused by the level-dependent non-linearity and not by a difference in tuning characteristic. The pulsation pattern within the bandwidth of the noise is found to be peaked.

Zusammenfassung

Es wurden Pulsationsschwellenverläufe für Sinustöne und Rauschbänder gemessen. Die Verläufe unterschieden sich ein wenig. Es konnte gezeigt werden, daß dieser Unterschied nicht von einer Differenz in der Abstimmcharakteristik stammt, sondern durch die pegelabhängige Nicht-linearität hervorgerufen wird. Es wurde festgestellt, daß die Pulsationsschwellenverläufe innerhalb der Bandbreite der Geräusche ein Maximum besitzen.

On a tracé les courbes des seuils pour pulsations dans le cas de sons puisés sinusoïdaux et de bandes de bruit. Leurs allures diffèrent un peu, cette différence étant causée par la non-linéarité en fonction du niveau et non par une variation de la caractéristique d'adaptation. Les courbes de seuil pour pulsations possèdent un pic si on les trace en fonction de la largeur de bande de fréquence de bruit.
