Free-field Reciprocity Calibration in the Transition Range between near Field and far Field

For the calibration of hydrophones in the frequency range beyond 0.5 MHz, a two-transducer method based on the reciprocity theorem will be recommended by the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) as the standard procedure. This paper gives an insight into the theoretical background of the procedure and a derivation of the pertinent formulas needed for practical work.

Für die Kalibrierung von Sondenhydrophonen im Frequenzgebiet oberhalb 0,5 MHz wird die Internationale Elektrotechnische Kommission (IEC) ein auf dem Reziprozitätstheorem basierendes Zwei-Wandler-Verfahren als Standardmethode empfehlen. Die vorliegende Arbeit gibt eine Übersicht über die theoretischen Zusammenhänge zu diesem Verfahren und bringt eine Herleitung der für die praktische Anwendung benötigten Formeln.

En vue de la calibration des hydrophones dans le domaine des fréquences au-dessus de 0,5 MHz, une méthode à deux transducteurs, basée sur le théorème de réciprocité, est en voie d'être recommandée par la Commission Internationale Electrotechnique comme procédure standard. Le présent travail analyse les bases théoriques de cette méthode et établit les formules nécessaires à une application pratique correcte.
