A new opto-electronic method involving optical Fourier transform and interferometry is proposed. This method allows experimental studies of space-time structures which could appear in transparent media such as acoustic fields or free jets. Nowadays this method has been successfully applied in the experimental study of an acoustic wave guide. Phase velocities and relative amplitudes of the simultaneous propagating modes have been measured and compared with theory.

Nous proposons une nouvelle méthode opto-électronique permettant l'étude spatio-temporelle de structures ordonnées dans les milieux transparents du point de vue optique et la- mesure de leur vitesse de phase, en particulier. La validité du procédé associant la transformation de Fourier optique et l'interférométrie est vérifiée expérimentalement en l'appliquant à l'étude des différents modes se propageant dans un guide d'onde acoustique.

Zusammenfassung

Es wird eine optronische Methode vorgeschlagen, mit deren Hilfe geordnete Strukturen in durchsichtigen Medien räumlich-zeitlich auf optischem Wege untersucht und besonders ihre Phasengeschwindigkeit gemessen werden können. Die Gültigkeit des Verfahrens, das auf der Verwendung der optischen Fourier-Transformierten und der Interferometrie beruht, wird experimentell durch die Untersuchung der verschiedenen Moden geprüft, die sich in einem akustischen Wellenleiter ausbreiten.
